Andrés Iniesta Luján is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Japanese club Vissel Kobe. He spent most of his career at Barcelona, where he served as the captain for three seasons. Iniesta is widely considered to be one of the best players of his generation and one of the greatest midfielders of all time. Iniesta came through La Masia, the Barcelona youth academy, and impressed from an early age. He made his first-team debut aged 18 in 2002. He began playing regularly during the 2004–05 season and remained in the team until 2018. Iniesta was an integral part of the Barcelona sides that won two historic trebles in 2009 and 2015, and his 35 trophies, which includes nine La Ligas and four UEFA Champions League titles, make him the most decorated Spanish footballer of all time. After 22 years at Barcelona, Iniesta signed for Japanese club Vissel Kobe in 2018. Iniesta played for Spain at the Under-16, Under-19 and Under-21 levels before making his international debut in 2006. He helped Spain win UEFA Euro 2008, playing every game and being selected in the Team of the Tournament. Iniesta was also a key member of the victorious Spanish team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup; he scored the winning goal in the final against the Netherlands, for which he was named the Man of the Match, and was selected to the tournament's All-Star Team. At UEFA Euro 2012, Iniesta led Spain to their second consecutive continental crown, again being chosen as the Man of the Match of the final against Italy, and was named the Player of the Tournament.

Iniesta has been named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI nine times and was chosen in the UEFA Team of the Year on six occasions. He was named in the All-time UEFA Euro XI. He won the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2012 and was named the IFFHS World's Best Playmaker in 2012 and 2013. Iniesta was runner-up to Lionel Messi for the 2010 FIFA Ballon d'Or and achieved third place in 2012.
We have managed to get our hands on a pair of his match worn Nike CTR360 Maestri i boots which he wore during the 2010-11 season for FC Barcelona, the first colourway after winning the World Cup with Spain. It is extremely rare to see a pair of Iniesta's boots up close, so here is an insight into what one of the greatest midfielders ever wore during part of his career.
Andres wore this pair in multiple matches and training sessions during the 2010-11 season, including La Liga and UEFA Champions League ties. He made a total of 50 appearances during that season scoring 9 goals and assisting 15.
Until around 2013, Nike personalised their athletes' boots by embroidering what they requested. Since then, personalisation has been heat applied instead of stitched. I always feel the embroidery on old school boots added a touch of class.
Iniesta was one of Nike's highest profile players throughout the majority of his career, he was the leading face of their "control" boot silo's such as the CTR360 and Magista. The CTR360 epitomised and represented his style of play; controlled, accurate, elegant. For the CTR360 Maestri ii, Andres led the advertising, as Nike felt he was the best player wearing the silo.
This mint/black/white colourway is widely regarded as one of, if not the best colourways of the CTR360 Maestri i range. A classy paintjob for a classy boot.
Given Iniesta's elite status, Nike would of course have made his boots to his exact specifications. This pair would have been made in the famous Montebelluna factory, given the fact that there are no size labels and some differences to the retail version of this model. There are also no innersoles, top players tend to wear orthopaedic ones which are bespoke made to their needs. Since 2015, the pairs Nike have made for their elite players in Montebelluna have featured special insoles which bare "Made in Italy" on the right one, with the MB logo on the left one. This pair of Iniesta's are measured to be around UK size 7.5, which is 8.5 in US sizing, however as they are made to measure it is hard to say if they are an exact size as they are made so specifically.
The heels of each boot are reinforced and much stronger than the retail models, the left is also higher than the right. The shape is more rounded to help provide more of a lock down feel and prevent slippage.
The "Kanga-Lite" material has been modified for Iniesta, being made much thinner than the retail versions which would provide better ball feel, there is also extra stitching on the upper.
The soleplate however, remains the same stud layout as the retail version. This configuration proved to be popular with top flight pros at the time, unlike today where most players modify their soleplates, usually opting for the older srud configurations, as they don't favour the standard ones. A prime example is Busquets who still uses the old Tiempo Legend soleplate on the newest models such as the Phantom VSN & Phantom Venom.
This pair are truly a piece of footballing history from one of the greatest players ever to grace the game.
