Clubs: Znicz Pruszkow, Lech Poznan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich

DOB: 21/08/1988

Position: Striker

Height: 6 ft 1 in

Robert Lewandowski s a Polish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bayern Munich and is the captain of the Poland national team. He is renowned for his positioning, technique and finishing, and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation.

After being the top scorer in the third and second tiers of Polish football with Znicz Pruszków, he moved to top-flight Lech Poznań, and was the top scorer in the league as they won the 2009–10 Ekstraklasa. In 2010, he transferred to Borussia Dortmund for a reported €4.5 million, where he won honours including two consecutive Bundesliga titles and a season as the league's top goalscorer. In 2013, he earned with Borussia a spot in the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final, a tournament in which he was the second top goalscorer, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.

Prior to the start of the 2014–15 season, Lewandowski agreed to join Dortmund's domestic rivals, Bayern Munich, on a free transfer. In Munich, he won the Bundesliga title in each of his first five seasons, earning a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Year in every season. In 2015–16, 2017–18 and 2018–19, he led the league in goalscoring, and in 2016–17 he was named the Bundesliga Player of The Year. He was named to the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season two times, and is the fifth-highest goalscorer in the history of the competition. He has scored over 200 goals in the Bundesliga, having reached the century mark quicker than any other foreign player, and is the league's all-time leading foreign goalscorer. He also holds the record for the fastest five goal haul in any major European football league since records have been kept after scoring five times in nine minutes against Wolfsburg in 2015.

We have managed to get our hands on a pair of Lewandowski's match worn Nike Hypervenom Phantom ii boots from the 2016-17 season. During this season, Robert made a staggering 30 goals and 5 assists in just 30 matches for Bayern Munich. It is no wonder he is ranked among the world football's most elite strikers.

The pair we have are extremely special, especially considering the fact that they are from the "Elite Pack". This was a range which Nike released in August 2016, and they selected only what they deemed their very best players to wear it. Among those were of course Lewandowski, Neymar, De Bruyne, as well as Hazard, Sterling and Gotze.

A full international for Poland since 2008, Lewandowski has earned over 110 caps and was a member of their team at Euro 2012, Euro 2016 and 2018 FIFA World Cup. With 61 international goals, Lewandowski is the all-time top scorer for Poland. In 2015, he was voted Polish Sportspersonality of the Year and in 2016 he claimed fourth place at the 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or Awards. He has been named the Polish Player of the Year a record seven times. The Guardian ranked him as the fifth-best footballer on the planet in 2015.

Nike have personalised this pair for Robert by adding his nickname "Lewy" along with the Polish national flag to represent his nation. Here we can also see his autograph on the honeycomb upper.

A noticeable modification on this pair is to the upper, the inside has been lined with an extra layer of material. The stitching around the lacing area on the upper is what connects that extra layer to the upper. The "NikeSkin" upper which was released on the Hypervenom model prior to this one is still viewed at today as one of the best and most revolutionary uppers ever made. Many feel this upper was rushed out of production, as 7 years on from its original release in 2013, many would still choose it over what is available on the market today.

Lewy's stats for club and country speak for themselves and show why hes considered one of the very best in the world, and has been for the majority of his career. For Poland, he has made 112 appearances and scored 61 goals. During his professional club career, Robert has made 568 appearances scoring a staggering 386 goals and making 112 assists for all 4 clubs.

Nike have hand made this pair to Lewandowski's exact specifications in their famous Montebelluna factory in Italy. They make only their very elite contracted players' boots here. Above we can see Lewy's custom insoles, which are considerably thicker than regular retail versions. Most pro's tend to get their insoles custom made as opposed to wearing generic ones. Some even wear no insoles at all!

The left insole bares the logo of Nike's Montebelluna factory, whilst the right insole has the Nike Swoosh logo with "Made in Italy". Within the logo on the left insole, we can see the Nike Swoosh, "MB" lettering with "est 96", as well as "Athlete Service" underneath the logo itself. Both insoles have of course faded due to them being used by Lewy in multiple matches and training sessions for FC Bayern.

This pair show some tremmendous signs of wear, especially to the heel areas which are pictured above. We can see discolouring to the upper material and even some slight holes/pulls in the Dynamic Fit Collar.

As well as the modified upper we mentioned earlier, the shape of this pair are also extremely different to retail versions, as is to be expected seeing as they are made around a last of his feet by Montebelluna's craftsmen. Lewy has also favoured for the SG-Pro stud variation.

Underneath the insole, Lewandowski's ID number has been written in. Due to there being no size labels, the Italian craftsmen use ID numbers to identify who's boots are who's, this number will relate to their foot lasts (moulds) in the factory.

A truly stunning pair match worn by one of the world's most prolific and consistent goalscorer.
